Treatment of STDs
STDs are infections that are transmitted during any type of sexual exposure, including intercourse (vaginal or anal), oral sex, and the sharing of sexual devices, such as vibrators. Some STDs are infections that are transmitted by persistent and close skin-to-skin contact, including during sexual intimacy.
It is estimated that about one in four American has an STD. Symptoms of STDs for women can include: sores, bumps or blisters near your genitals, anus or mouth; burning or pain when you urinate; itching, a bad smell, or unusual discharge from your vagina or anus; pain in your lower belly; bleeding from your vagina when you donít have your period.
If you suspect that you may have an STD, make an appointment immediately. Early treatment can prevent lasting damage and illness.
