What is Tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide is a peptide therapy weight loss drug that is administered by injection. It has long been used to help patients manage their type 2 diabetes. At the same time, it can boost weight loss in patients who otherwise strugle to achive results with diet and exercise. Tirzepatide works by reducing appetite and controlling insulin levels, helping you feel fuller for longer periods of time. Tirzepatide is safe for both short and long-term use unlike many other weight loss options.

Is Tirzepatide effective?

According to the NIH (National Institute of Health) studies, “tirzepatide was more effective than other drugs in reducing body weight by 5%, 10%, or 15%.” This confirms that this medication is an effective weight loss drug for many patients seeking treatment that can address obesity.

What is the difference between TIRZEPATIDE and SEMAGLUTIDE?

Here at About Women Ob/Gyn, we offer both of these medications! Both Tirzepatide and Semaglutide are very similar in the way they help with weight loss. They both work by replacing the GLP1 hormone in our body that tells us that we feel full. Tirzepatide also replaces our GIP hormone which is an additional way in aiding weight loss and increasing insulin release. Studies have shown that Tirzepatide is just as effective as Semaglutide with weight loss. One added benefit of Tirzepatide is that it has lower numbers of certain side effects including nausea. Our team at About Women will help you choose the right medication and treatment plan for you.

How does our Medical Weight Loss Tirzepatide Program work?

The program starts with a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s overall health along with a detailed review of their medical history, which assists in helping our providers determine if they are a good candidate for the program and to identify certain medical issues that may be barriers to weight loss. Once it is established that you are a good fit for the program, our About Women team will then work with you to develop a personalized weight loss plan.

It is a 6 month program where our team will constantly monitor and track your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed. This program is designed to help you not only reach your ideal weight, but also equip you with all the tools necessary to make healthy lifestyle choices that will benefit you for years to come.
